Articles for iPhone App Reviews

Awesome, but flawed

Nearly everything about this is great. BUT the fact that you cant access article sections from the bottom navigation pane is annoying. You have to do 2 taps instead of just 1 like with other apps.

This is simply BEAUTIFUL

But there are some things Id like. One being the ability to download some articles to enable offline reading and not just recent ones. Two being the ability to bring up the content table by a two-finger tap or something... So completely honestly speaking, this was worth every penny. I might not have tried many wiki apps but I love the fact that you could have multiple pages for this app. Simply AWESOME XDD PS is it possible to make it into fullscreen?

Awesome

This app is unbelievably sexy. Its worth every penny and cant wait for updates.

Love it!

Great app. Totally worth .99¢! I love the layout. And the fact the you can open a new page like in safari. This is a great app. Get it. Before the price goes up!

This should be a universal app

Ive been using the iPhone version since the initial launch and I wish I could benefit from the same experience on my iPad without having to cash out 5 bucks.

great app

really fast and very stable. i use wiki a lot but now use it even more.

Really good

Please make it universal asap :)

Near perfect

Would love to have the option to underline and insert note.

absolutely the best wikipedia app

I used wikipanion before and that was great but this blows that away. every feature you could possibly ask for and for only .99! underpriced for sure

One of the most used apps on my iPhone.

A well polished application.

Great features

Ive tried a few Wikipedia apps, and my favourite by far is Articles. Support is also fantastic. Pages are rendered beautifully, and offline storage works great. Highly recommended.

Best Wikipedia app ever!

If youre a Wikipedia reader, please buy it, youll never regret!

Better than you think

Although this app looks good from the screenshots, its strength is, as is with most great apps, the user experience. Super clean interface and the huge bonus of tabbed pages, this baby looks even better than mobile Safari. If you use Wikipedia on your iPhone, do yourself a favour and pick up this app. Its excellent.

Doesnt let you read the Talk page

One of the important features of Wikipedia is being able to read the talk page to check how the article got made. Ditto for being able to check the history. The app doesnt let you do either and so its not very useful for using Wikipedia safely.

Love it!

I love this app — the design is beautiful and simple. The ability to view recently opened articles offline is perfect to give me something to read, I so far dont know the limit of articles I can view offline (which is awesome). Lock orientation is perfect for those who dont have the newest iPod models like me, so I can read in bed without holding it awkwardly. User experience is smooth and you can now save articles to read them whenever. The tab system is great, because lets face it, Wikipedias gonna make you curious to read more.

Beautiful and simple

Everything Articles does, it does well, and it never tries to over-reach itself. Layout is clean, interaction is clear & apparent from the get-go. A joy to use!

Not as useful as I thought

I already had Wikibot, so the only reason I bought this app was because of its ability to store articles for reading them later offline. The problem is that when you are offline and you open an article that have been stored that way, youd better read it right then, because it will disappear as soon as youll close it and you wont be able to read it offline later. Another way would be to think to copy it somewhere else, but then it would be simpler to copy it the first time around and theres no benefit for me to use this app instead of Wikibot. If this app would let us keep the article for ulterior use and decide when its time to delete it, it would worth 5 stars for me, but now I dont find it very useful.

Images do not load

The application is great, but on an iPhone no images will load. Dont buy until this is fixed!

Great app with a few issues

I have loved this app ever since I first got it, but it has room for improvement. First, the biggest problem is that for a while now I have noticed that occasionally photos do not load whatsoever (thumbnails or otherwise). Obviously this hurts the overall experience quite a bit; it has not been an issue in the past, but at the moment it can be extremely aggravating. I am using an iPhone 4 on the latest firmware. I dislike the table system quite a bit, and would like the option (perhaps in settings) to have tables automatically shown and on the same page. As it is, they load separately which pulls you out of the article. I also find tables generally look ugly in this app. Tables work fine in the mobile version of Wikipedia. I would also like the option to have the table of contents integrated so that I dont have to hit the top of the article to choose my point of interest. Its a matter of wanting less tapping to get to where I want. Again, something that can be learned from the mobile Wikipedia site. Aside from these issues, there is a lot of good in this app. The serif font is great, and being able to choose your size is another fantastic way to strain your eyes even less. Although I dont much use browsing history, favorites, or "read later," I understand why they are important features, and they work well. Being able to search within a page is wonderful! Articles is a worthy app which I love but do not enjoy using when the image loading problems occur and I am faced with awkward tables. I would love to see these things worked on.
